A Lifelong Interest In The Magic Of Birth…
Once I became a nurse, I knew that serving young families would be my calling.
I found my true passion in the labour and delivery room where I’ve worked for most of my career. There, I quickly realized the profound impact I had on my patients’ experiences.
My support, attitude, and the education I provided could drastically change how my patients felt about their birth day. Within a few hours, anxiety could be transformed into confidence and excitement! Being at the bedside, getting to know my patients and their goals/fears/desires is my absolute favourite part of nursing.
The MTL Birth Co. was born of my deep desire to know & support birthing families one-on-one.
Witnessing families grow never ceases to be humbling and magical to me. It would be my privilege to help make your most life-changing day an amazing memory to cherish forever. I would love to meet you!
My Philosophy On Birth
✓ No two births are alike.
✓ You have absolute autonomy over your body and consent matters.
✓ As an intelligent and capable adult, you are the best person to make decisions for yourself and your baby.
✓ Your body is wise and deserving of trust and time.
✓ Birth should feel private and safe.
✓ You DESERVE a positive birth experience! Let’s aim for more than just “healthy mom, healthy baby”, the outcome is important but so is the journey.
✓ Birth doesn’t have to be scary! With the right support and preparation, your baby’s birth can be one of the most empowering and amazing days of your life!
What Sets Me Apart ?
When choosing your support person, it is crucial that your wishes and values coincide with your doula or birth coach’s approach and background. I distinguish myself from other “traditional” doulas in several aspects:
not all doula services are equivalent
*Many doulas do independently seek out training from various sources. However, there is no formal oversight or regulation of doula practice in Canada, resulting in a wide range of expertise and competency levels. Doulas typically do not have a healthcare background or any formal education in the physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, or psychology of pregnancy and childbirth. Because there are no regulatory bodies for doula practice, this means that anyone who is interested in attending births may call themselves a doula.
