A Birth Coach

In most settings, healthcare workers will not be available to stay at your bedside throughout labour. Unfortunately, nurses have multiple patients, endless documentation and tasks to complete. It is impossible for them to stay 100% focused on you at all times. That’s where I come in!

I stay with you every step of the way, helping you navigate all aspects of your labour. By choosing birth coaching by The MTL Birth Co., you are hiring an expert you trust and who has your wishes and wellbeing at heart!

Why Everyone Can Benefit From My Services

  • When you are labouring in hospital, your nurse may be caring for multiple patients, and unable to stay at your bedside to provide support. You may also be surprised to know that neither nurses nor doctors are routinely trained in labour support techniques or in physiologic birth as part of their formal training. This means there are often huge inconsistencies in the level of information and support you may receive from different healthcare professionals.

By hiring The MTL Birth Co., you are ensuring yourself a constant, supportive presence throughout your labour and birth by a nurse who has you and ONLY YOU to care for.

  • You wouldn’t run a marathon before preparing first. The same goes for labour and birth.

If you want the most positive birth experience, you need the best prenatal preparation. Most prenatal education offered publicly in Quebec is not optimal: offered in larger groups, standardized, basic, with little-to-no regard for your specific questions, concerns, or situation. Fortunately, a more personalized option is available

Here at The MTL Birth Co., I put you, your goals, your needs, and your specific pregnancy at the heart of your prenatal sessions.

  • Choosing The MTL Birth Co. for your birth coaching services means hiring an experienced, qualified registered nurse to walk you through what to expect from start to finish for your hospital birth and all your options, AHEAD of time!

I can tell you what to expect, because I’ve been there and seen it (everything from what a labour room looks like, to how to communicate with medical professionals and everything in between).

  • We all know doctors’ appointments can be rushed, to say the least. When you only have 5 or 10 minutes with your doctor, how can they possibly address all your questions and concerns?

At The MTL Birth Co., I teach you how to make the most out of your medical appointments and how to ask the right questions to be prepared and confident for your birth.

  • Heard a birth “horror story” from a friend and don’t know what to make of it? Want someone to help sort out myth from reality?

With The MTL Birth Co., you have a registered nurse available at your fingertips, by phone/text/email 24/7 throughout your pregnancy to answer your questions, guide you, and address your fears and concerns. In addition, when you go into labour, I drop everything, come to you and stay with you until your baby is in your arms.

Rigorously trained in the physiology, psychology, and pharmacology of labour and birth, I can offer you a well-rounded, balanced perspective on pregnancy, labour and birth.

  • Here at The MTL Birth Co., facts matter. All my prenatal education, guidance, and advice is based in up-to-date evidence and informed by years of first-hand experience as a labour and delivery nurse.

How It Works

During your pregnancy, we spend time together via prenatal sessions aimed at getting to know you/your partner/your goals/your fears/your specific pregnancy. It is also during these sessions that I teach you “all the things” pregnancy, birth, and postpartum-related.
